KKP : Seeds Export Allowed Again
Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo re-opened the export of lobster seeds through Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation No. 12 of 2020. The regulation is a revision of the previous regulation : Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation No. 56 of 2016 issued by Minister Susi Pudjiastuti.
In the era of Susi Pudjiastuti, exporting lobster seeds was prohibited. But now, Edhy Prabowo said the export is allowed for the protection of fishermen, empowerment, and to increase their income.
Before legalizing lobster seed exports, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of Republic of Indonesia has conducted an in-depth study through public consultations. "This export (regulation) not only involves corporations but also fishermen, because the seed catchers are fishermen. There are 13,000 fishermen who depend on finding lobster seeds," said Edhy.
